Northwest University launches Chinese Bridge study camp
The 2022 Chinese Bridge Chang'an Study Tour Camp was launched online on Oct 10 – hosted by the Center for Language Education and Cooperation and organized by Northwest University (NWU) in Xi'an, capital of Northwest China's Shaanxi province.
Nearly 200 teachers and students from Thailand and China gathered online to participate in the camp's opening ceremony.
The ongoing online camp is a learning and exchange program, enabling the Center for Language Education and Cooperation to promote the Chinese language and culture in an innovative way during the normalization of the COVID-19 pandemic. It aims to support overseas youth to learn Chinese and Chinese culture.
This is the third time that NWU has organized the event.
During it, 165 students from three schools in Thailandwill participatein a live interactiveChinese class on the online platform.
They will also watch and learn through a cultural video course filmed and produced by NWU on the theme of Shaanxi history, culture and modern development on the Chinese Bridge platform.
Through three weeks of study, it is hoped that the students will improve their Chinese listening and speaking abilities, and learn about Chinese culture and contemporary social development.
Thai students also prepared a special program and recorded it as a video to play at the opening ceremony. The performances were in various forms, but all featured Chinese themes.
Since the global spread of COVID-19 in 2020, NWU has been developing online course materials for international students and has put together 33 online Chinese culture courses suitable for learners at the low, medium and high level.
